Opera Desktop TeamMail panel takes center stageHi! In this build, we present to you a new Mail panel with more functionality. And there is more, so read on below.
The Mail Panel With this new Mail panel, you can decide for yourself what items to show, and in what order. Not using the 'Attachments'? Just hide it. Want your IMAP account on top? Just drag it up. Etc. Furthermore, you can now create folders to organize your mailing list and newsfeeds, which is great for users who have many of them. It is also possible to select in each category (like Attachments, Labels, Feeds, etc) which individual items to show and which items to hide. Speaking about feeds, you now will get the Mail panel for easy switching between feeds, without having to set up any mail accounts. As long as you don't set up a mail account, the panel will only contain your feeds with a dedicated toolbar and context menu :wizard: Other changes are the automatic appearance of the Mail panel whenever you switch to a mail tab - and automatically returning to the previous state of the panels when moving back to a not-mail tab. Also, POP accounts have gained Inbox and Sent views for themselves. This is phase one of the mail panel work. Phase two is now being worked on, and will see a better UI for Filters/Labels/Searches, support for feed folders in OPML import/export, a nicer look especially for Mac, and a better way to deal with multiple mail accounts (which can currently take up a lot of vertical space). So stay tuned, and tell us what you think of phase one! More news

Note: These packages have the old non-unified build numbers. However, 10.70 and above will continue to have unified build numbers. Also because this is the 10.6x line we still have PowerPC. Download ... 10.62 Release CandidateIt is about time for an update to our stable branch and hence we have a nice new 10.62 build for you. The fixes listed below are since the 10.61 final.
Since this is a release candidate please let us know if you see any regressions since 10.61 and remember fixes to 10.70 that are missing are not regressions! ;) Note: These packages have the old non-unified build numbers. However, 10.70 and above will continue to have unified build numbers. Also because this is the 10.6x line we still have PowerPC. Download ... Dialogs and text inputNew week, and a new snapshot. :hat:
We have fixed the mail panel regression introduced with the previous snapshot, and improved on dialog modality on Mac. Mac users on older system will also find a very pleasant fix for ‘the slow typing issue.’ (Will be available in an upcoming Opera 10.62 update for the PowerPC crowd too.) Known regressions
Download Note: If you are looking for a PowerPC build, please see our previous blog post. ... The End of an ArchitectureWe have some sad news for the 0.1% of our users who are still on the PowerPC architecture.
Starting with the Next version of Opera, as of the next snapshot release (due sometime later today), we are discontinuing the PowerPC architecture on Mac and Linux. Opera 10.6x will be the last release with support for this architecture. This is unfortunate, but with third party vendor support dwindling away, we can no longer keep developing Opera for this architecture. After ending support for PowerPC, we will be able to focus more on our high quality browser to make sure that it meets the need of the modern web browser user on the popular architectures. ... Bug fixing Wednesday on a unified build numberA nice bunch of fixes coming right up! :)
We are now using the same build number on all platforms. This should make it easier to coordinate your bug reports and comments (hint, hint) as we’ll know for sure you are all talking about the same build. Known regressions

Content blocker synchronization, and *nix fixesIt has been a while since we added something to Opera Link, but with this "10.70" snapshot, we are introducing synchronization of the content blocker. This makes it easy to build and maintain a list of blocked items anywhere you go.
This snapshot also has a few Linux/FreeBSD fixes. Known issues

Download ... New 10.70 snapshot: Synchronizing build numbers (almost)It's been a few days since the previous 10.70 snapshot, so we decided it was time to do another one.
If you look at the build numbers, you will notice that Mac and Unix use the same number. We are currently working on synchronizing build numbers across desktop platforms, and this is the first step. Windows will hopefully follow in the near future. Note: There are no Linux PowerPC builds this time. We just released 10.61. Changelog can be found: http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/1061/ Thanks for your testing effort. We will likely continue with a double set of "snapshots" here on the desktop team. Continuing with 10.7 (or whatever it will eventually be called) and 10.62 The bugfixing continues ;-) ... 10.61 Release Candidate (RC3)Here is a further 10.61 release candidate. The changelog below reflects only changes since the last 10.61 release candidate (not since the last 10.70 build). So, let us know if you spot any regressions since 10.60 or 10.61 RC2.
And remember missing fixes/improvements from 10.70 are not regressions! Thanks in advance for all your help testing! Download ... New 10.70 snapshot with more Presto updatesWe have another Presto (Core) update for you. This update should improve performance in some cases, and it fixes a few crashes and freezes, some memory issues, and we have also removed the -o- prefix for CSS3 text-overflow. Widgets should be working again as well. There are some more quite important fixes in there, so take a look at the changelog for more details.
Let us know about any regression you may find compared to the previous 10.70 snapshot. WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features. Download ... Yet another 10.70 snapshot coming right up!This is my debut on Desktop's blog so let me just say "Hello World!" from [QA] part of Desktop Team located in Wroclaw, Poland.
Today we'd like to serve you a plate of hot fixes. Chef's speciality are some crash fixes seasoned with plenty of UI and usability ones. So please take your seat and enjoy today's meal snapshot :) And please remember that we're counting on you. Share your opinions about our work! Your feedback is really helpful. Download ... Opera 10.70 snapshot with more desktop fixesYesterday's "10.70" (not necessarily the final version number) snapshot contained a new batch of Presto fixes and even web standards improvements. Today we're focusing more on the desktop side again.
But before I continue, I just have a quick note regarding the addition of object-fit and object-position from the CSS3 Paged Media Module properties in the previous 10.70 snapshot: These are currently only supported with the -o- prefix, but we recommend that you also add them without the prefix as well if you choose to use them on a page. It should also be noted that the specification may not yet have been updated to reflect that image-fit and image-postion have been renamed. Returning to this snapshot, there are quite a few crash fixes, and we have improved the Add Bookmark dialog when you try to add a site that's already in your bookmarks by letting you change the folder, and adding a message letting you know what's going on. For more information about the fixes in this snapshot, please take a look at the changelog. Download ... Presto update for Opera 10.70As you may know, we have released two Release Candidates for Opera 10.61, which is a security and bugfix release. In the meantime, we have also been working a bigger upgrade, which is currently called "10.70", although the final version number is yet to be determined.
This means that we are testing the 10.61 release, and 10.70 in parallel, which may cause some confusion if you look at build numbers. The most recent 10.61 build may have a higher build number than the latest 10.70 build, but that is simply the number assigned to them by the build system. Opera "10.70" is still the main development branch, while 10.61 is only intended to be a smaller security/bug fix release. With that out of the way, let's return to the actual snapshot. This one contains mostly Presto (Core) changes, and there are even a few new features:
There are also a few optimizations for SVG, improvements to the JavaScript debugger, and we have added the option opera:config#VisitedLink|VisitedLinksState to control :visited (0 - disable :visited, 1 - match same domain only, 2 - enable :visited normally). There are also quite a few other fixes we need to test, but let's start with this batch. WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all. Download ... Second release candidate for 10.61Hello everyone!
This is my first and (at least for the foreseeable future) last post on this blog: For the last nine weeks I have been a summer intern in the Desktop Team and as a long time Opera fan I totally enjoyed it! There are some very cool things happening in the future of Opera and I'm sure that they will make it rock even harder! If you have wondered what we summer interns did this year: We mostly developed tools for the testers and developers at Opera that should help them to release builds even faster! Todays RC mostly contains stability fixes. But we had to revert the fix for the blanking out of the start bar, as it caused some other problems, and it probably won't make it in 10.61 Final. You should also look out for problems with cookies as we fixed a bug in the cookie settings. There are also some improvements for Geolocation on Unix and some fixes for memory issues. Have a nice remaining summer and to the Opera team: Good Luck! Download ... 10.61 release candidate (RC1)Many of the Opera desktop team have been away enjoying a well deserved summer holiday. In the mean time the rest of us have been looking at issues affecting 10.60.
We still intend to work towards a post 10.6x release (currently called 10.70). However, whilst you await that here is an initial release candidate for 10.61. It is exactly the same as 10.60 plus the fixes below. WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features. Download ... Weekend stabilization…and we’re back with another build that addresses some stability problems on Mac. Please give it a go, and let us know (by submitting crash logs) if you still run into a crashes (as always).

Networking fixesTired of 10.60 already? You should not be! It is a great release. But if you’re up for it in the summer heat, we have a new build that needs testing. One of the fixes we hope will further improve stability on Mac.
We are very interested in crash logs from this build, so please don’t hold them back. ;) PS: The version number is now set to “10.70” to differentiate it from the 10.60 final. PS2: It is definitely summer in Oslo! WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features. Download
Opera 10.60 goes finalOpera 10.60 has been released today! Opera 10.60 is based on a brand new version of Opera's rendering engine, Presto 2.6.30 and includes support for several new web technologies, such as Geolocation, Web Workers and Offline Applications. In addition Opera 10.60 is the first final browser that has support for the high quality video format WebM.
During the development of Opera 10.60 we also focused on stability, performance and alignment of all platforms. 10.60 has notably improved Javascript and DOM performance, and since 10.54 almost a thousand bugs have been fixed. Unix users can now also enjoy a final version of Opera with the speed of the new Javascript engine Carakan, and other features that have been introduced in 10.50 and 10.60. We'd like to thank everyone for testing the snapshots, reporting bugs, and giving us other feedback. Stay tuned on this blog for more Presto updates! Download Opera 10.60 Opera 10.60 RC3This is Opera 10.60 Release Candidate 3.
Unless any major new issues are found, this will most likely be released as Opera 10.60 Final on Windows, Mac, Linux and FreeBSD. With your help we can do the final testing before release. Fingers crossed, this latest version of the fastest browser on earth will soon be available to everyone else! Download ... |
